Message	on cars that have done ~400 Rwhp and never had valve problems. I was always worried about it but never had one fail. The rod bearing failure is probably due to light detonation. It would be easy to tell by looking at the bearing. A flattened bearing is caused by detonation in the cylinder putting undue stress on the bearing which in turn flattens it out.
